A few nights ago a huge thunderstorm blew through our village. We heard it advance upon us like giants stomping through the woods.  Lots of flashing lightning, with no  time at all  in between the lightning and the clap of thunder. Then the rain started up, and the eeriest sound I've ever heard, a steady, fierce wind. Not blowing and letting up, just a strong, steady blow in one direction, very loud. My son called me from his room - his bed was soaking wet, the rain having blown in horizontally through a barely opened window. As I  moved him to the most interior bed in the house, we began to hear crashing trees. We looked out the window and there was a tree right down in our driveway. Then more crashing sounds.  In the morning, we discovered 6 more trees and large limbs down. A terrifying night, but now all is well and the voice of the chainsaw is heard in our land.
