4/2/07 I'm in the midst of getting ready for my next show, Matsuri 2007, a Festival of the Japan-America Society, to take place on April 15. The last time it was held, two years ago, it was as mobbed as I imagine Tokyo to be (no, I have not yet been to Japan), mostly with young kids and their parents. After three years of doing shows, I'm trying to get smarter about what will sell at what event, so this year I've decided to make t-shirts for kids using katazome techniques. I've made 4 designs in sizes ranging from 6 months up to about 12 years: (click image for larger view) I always do a little design on the back as well as the front of my shirts, so the shirt pictured on top in each photograph is actually a back, and the bottom shirt is the front. I didn't make the Oni shirts in tiny sizes, because I thought it might be too scary for babies, though my son and husband tell me I'm being silly.
